The European Heritage Days will take place on September 17 and 18, 2022. The theme chosen for this 39th edition is ” Sustainable Heritage “.

The event is designed to raise public awareness of Europe’s cultural richness and diversity, and of the need to preserve its heritage. Every year, almost 30 million visitors are welcomed at nearly 50,000 monuments and sites.

A little history…

The European Heritage Days are a joint initiative of the Council of Europe and the European Commission. For almost 39 years, these days have been the fruit of successful European cooperation.

The Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days) were launched on October 3, 1985 in Granada, Spain. Today, 50 countries organize their own European Heritage Days every year. They are all signatories to the European Cultural Convention and, since 1999, have been united by the same slogan: “Europe, a common heritage”.

The Ministry of Culture and its partners are mobilizing to mark the occasion.
